How to refer

We accept self-referrals, GP-referrals and specialist referrals. Certain funding sources (e.g. NDIS, Medicare, DVA) may have specific referral requirements (see below). All referrals should be emailed to admin@neupathspeech.com.au

Please check our service catchment area below, prior to referral.

Although not compulsory, we encourage all new and prospective clients to book a free fifteen (15) minute consultation. This is conducted via phone or video call. You will meet Rukmani, have the opportunity to ask questions and determine next steps in your care plan. At NeuPath Speech Rehabilitation we value the rights of the individual to choose who they would like to work with. This meeting empowers you to decide if NeuPath Speech Rehabilitation in the best fit for your case and circumstances. Should you decide to proceed, it also allows us to “hit the ground running” in your first session. Please note that this is not a clinical consultation and specific clinical advice is unable to be provided until services have been engaged via referral.

  • Our NDIS participants access the same pricing as non-NDIS participants, unless otherwise negotiated. As a small business, we are a non-registered provider. We provide services to participants whose plans self-managed or plan-managed. We take our obligations under the NDIS Code of Conduct seriously.

  • You may be eligible to receive a certain number of partially subsidised services via a Medicare Chronic Disease Management Plan.

This is plan prescribed by a GP for patients with chronic or terminal medical condition. These medical conditions are present or are likely to be present for 6 months or longer. Eligible patients can receive up to five (5) allied health sessions per calendar year. Your GP will decide how many of these are allocated to speech pathology. As the fee will be more than the rebate, there is an out of pocket cost for clients who are seeing a speech pathologist under this program. NeuPath Speech Rehabilitation is not a bulk-billing service.

Please discuss eligibility with your usual medical practitioner. A specific referral will be required to enable the fee to be claimed through Medicare.

Additional assistance for people of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander descent who have had a health assessment to receive a Medicare benefit for follow-up allied health services. To access these items patients must be referred to an eligible allied health provider by their GP.

Eligible Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients can receive a maximum of five services, in addition to the five allied health services available each calendar year for patients who have a chronic medical condition and complex care needs. Up to date information about the benefit available can be found here at MBS online.

  • Rebates for NeuPath Speech Rehabilitation services may be available through your private health fund (PHF). You will need to determine the rebates with your health fund provider prior to commencing the service. You will also need to check with us whether NeuPath Speech Rehabilitation is an eligible provider for your health fund.

You may not claim a Medicare rebate and a private health insurance rebate for the same service. You may not claim a private health insurance rebate for a session where you have also used NDIS funds.

  • Individuals who hold a Department of Veterans’ Affairs gold card (or speech pathology related white card) will receive a subsidised service. Please contact DVA to determine if you are eligible for full or partial coverage. You will require an initial referral from your GP, specialist or doctor who treated you in hospital.
